Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud on Tuesday launched a salvo against Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay for his reported remarks likening the BJP with Team India and the Congress with Pakistan cricket team and drawing a parallel between cricket and the MLC elections.

Such comparison is ridiculous and Mr. Sanjay’s remarks are unbecoming of a Union Minister, Mr Mahesh said while speaking to the media at the District Congress Committee office in Karimnagar on Tuesday — the last day of the election campaign for the February 27 MLC polls. Minister for Backward Classes Welfare Ponnam Prabhakar and others were present.

The BJP leaders habitually play the communal card in every election, he charged and wondered, “How can the BJP claim credit for Team India’s win in the match and link cricket match with elections.”

He alleged that the BRS stayed away from these MLC elections as part of its secret deal with the BJP.

He slammed BJP leaders for spreading false propaganda against the Congress government on social media as it was unable to digest the Congress’s plethora of pioneering welfare and development initiatives and historic caste census.

He alleged that both Union Ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay remained silent even as the Centre meted out a raw deal to Telangana in the Union Budget. “They have failed to bring funds for the ambitious projects in Telangana,” he criticised.
