Vijayawada: An inscription of Nellore Chola king Manmagandagopala has been discovered on the premises of the Siddhesvara temple in Siddhesvara village, Kaligiri mandal, Nellore district, by the Archaeological Survey of India.
Engraved on all four sides of the Nandi pillar in the temple, the inscription is in Telugu and dates back to Saka 1212, Vikriti, Ashada Su 10, Monday—equivalent to June 19, 1290 CE.
It records the donation of lands in Anggamamanttananti to Lord Siddhesvara at Siddhanakonduru by a local chief, Siddhappanayaka, son of Manginayaka and Kesava of Gollapudi, for the merit of the king, the son of Mahamandalesvara Vijayadityadeva Maharaju.
