Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has directed the officials to start selection of beneficiaries of Indiramma weaker section housing scheme on the basis of the representations received during the Gram Sabhas conducted in January third week.
The Minister recalled the drive conducted on January 26 for identification of beneficiaries under Indiramma scheme in 562 villages and wanted the officials concerned to review the problems faced in the exercise for selecting eligible families. Officials should work out modalities to ensure that selection of beneficiaries is foolproof, he said.
Mr. Srinivas Reddy underscored the need for leveraging latest technologies to ensure that only eligible families are selected under the scheme. The government is not averse to deleting the names of the beneficiaries if they were found ineligible. In this context, he wanted the officials to evolve modalities to see that the eligibility criterion of the families concerned is fulfilled at the time of receiving applications so that ineligible people are identified at the primary level itself.
The government is committed to ensure houses to all eligible families under the Indiramma scheme and officials should conduct field visits to redress complaints if any from eligible families not enrolled under the scheme. Priority should be accorded to the poorest of the poor in selection of beneficiaries and the entire process should be transparent without giving scope for any criticism that ineligible people received the benefits under the scheme, he said.
