Farmer’s daughter topped Bihar Board matriculation exam

Anshu Kumari, the daughter of a farmer, has topped the Bihar Board 10th exam and now she aims to crack National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) to become a doctor.

“It is the happiest day in my life that I have topped the board exam in Bihar with almost 98% marks. I want to become doctor by cracking NEET exam. My elder sister helped me a lot during my studies and her contribution to my success is immense. My parents also supported me a lot and always encouraged me to study,” Ms. Anshu said while interacting with the media at her residence in West Champaran district.

Out of 500, Ms. Anshu has secured 489 marks. She is one of the toppers of 10th Board Exam conducted by Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) of which the results were declared on Saturday and 82.11% students passed the exam.

Ms. Anshu’s father Bhupendra Shah and mother Sabita Devi also expressed happiness over the success of their child. She has two sisters and one brother, out of four children, she is the third child in the family.

The toppers include two girls and one boy. Sakshi Kumari from Samastipur, Anshu Kumari from West Champaran, and Ranjan Verma from Bhojpur are the toppers. All three students have secured 97.80% marks in the board exam.

Sakshi Kumari, daughter of carpenter also expressed her happiness over results asserting that she wants to achieve a big post in life. 

A total of 4,52,302 students have passed with first division, 5,24,965 second division and 3,80,732 third division. Altogether 15,58,077 students appeared in the exam out of which 8,05,392 were girls and 7,52,685 were boys.

The board exam was conducted in 1,677 examination centres of the state from February 17 to 25.

The 10th board results were released by Education Department Minister Sunil Kumar in the presence of BSEB Chairman, Anand Kishor and Additional Chief Secretary, Education Department, S. Siddharth.

BSEB chairman Mr. Kishor said that from this year, the BSEB has doubled the prize money given to the students securing the first 10 ranks in the Matriculation exam, just like the 12th Board exam.

The student securing first position in the 10th Board will be given ₹2 lakh instead of ₹1 lakh, ₹1.5 lakh instead of ₹75,000 to the student securing second position and ₹1 lakh instead of ₹50,000 to the student securing third position.

Students securing fourth to tenth position will be given ₹20,000 instead of ₹10,000. Along with it, all the awarded students will be given one laptop, certificate and medal.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar extended his hearty congratulations and best wishes to all the candidates who have passed the matriculation examination.

Mr. Kumar expressed happiness over the performance of the girl students and said that along with the girl students, their parents also deserve congratulations.

“The confidence of the girls has increased and they are making continuous progress in every field. I wish a bright future for all the successful students,” Mr. Kumar said in the message released from CM office.

He also congratulated the BSEB and the Education Department for publishing the results of the examination in a very short time. Mr. Kumar said that the students will get enough time to enrol in the next class.
