TTD launches ‘Swacch Andhra-Swaach Tirumala’ campaign

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) on Saturday launched the ‘Swachh Andhra-Swachh Tirumala’ initiative to maintain hygiene atop the temple town. TTD Additional Executive Officer Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary appealed to devotees not to litter. The initiative began with a cleanliness drive at the ‘Kunkala Point’ on the First Ghat Road, where Mr. Chowdary administered the Swachh Andhra pledge to staff and began the clean-up. Despite the official ban on plastic in Tirumala, pilgrims continue to dispose of plastic waste on roadside. He urged them to use the dustbins. Around 400 TTD staff, police, Srivari Sevaks and students participated in the drive.
