Sourav Ganguly signs Rs 125 crore deal to host Bigg Boss Bangla after parting ways with hit quiz show ‘Dadagiri’ – Firstpost

Former India captain and BCCI president Sourav Ganguly had hosted Dadagiri on Zee Bangla for the better part of its existence since 2009, and is now set to debut on Star Jalsha after signing a four-year deal worth Rs 125 crore to host Bigg Boss Bangla.

Former India captain and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly is set for a new innings in the near future. After hosting Dadagiri on Zee Bangla for the better part of its existence since 2009, Ganguly confirmed to News18 Bangla that he is set to Bigg Boss Bangla after reportedly signing a four-year deal with Star Jalsha worth Rs 125 crore.

“I am very happy to be associated with Star Jalsha. We are starting a new chapter together, focusing on storytelling through innovative non-fiction programmes,” Ganguly said on his new role.

“I have always believed in the power of connecting with people beyond cricket. This collaboration will allow me to achieve that by presenting new formats and real-life stories that will inspire and entertain,” added the former India and Kolkata Knight Riders opener, who will also be hosting another quiz show on the channel.

Ganguly set for Bigg Boss Bangla debut in July 2026

Production for Bigg Boss Bangla, whose Hindi version has had Bollywood superstar Salman Khan as its host for the most part, will commence in the next few months and the show has been slated for a prime-time launch in July next year. ‘Dada’ also appeared as a police officer in a promotional video for the Netflix series Khakee: The Bengal Chapter recently alongside Bangla film star Saswata Chatterjee among others.

Besides serving as the BCCI president from 2019 to 2022, Ganguly has also served as Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president in the past and has also mentored the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League.

And in October,
he was named JSW Sports’ Director of Cricket, effectively becoming head of Delhi Capitals’ IPL and Women’s Premier League teams.

Ganguly had also been reappointed head of the ICC’s Men’s Cricket Committee earlier this month. Former India teammate VVS Laxman was also re-appointed to the panel, with Hamid Hassan, Desmond Haynes, Temba Bavuma and Jonathan Trott coming in as fresh faces.
