Vivek Agnihotri known for movies like The Kashmir Files, The Vaccine War, Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal, The Hate Story and others, has grabbed headlines for his bold and controversial statements.

The filmmaker has now taken a dig at Bollywood producers and accused them of hypocrisy and cowardice and claimed that the industry badmouths its lead actors behind closed doors but doesn’t have the courage to criticise them publicly.

“Aukaat hi nahi hai inki, himmat hai karne ki, kar ke dikhayein,” said Agnihotri speaking to Digital Commentary.

His response came around the controversial blockbuster
Animal
featuring Ranbir Kapoor, which has been sparking debate for glorifying misogyny and toxic masculinity.

The filmmaker challenged Bollywood insiders to take the name of one of the producers or directors, who hasn’t spoken negatively in private about a big star. “Do they have the courage to say anything in public? They don’t. So they deserve to suffer,” he said, adding, “Do phir Rs 150 crore ghatiya kaam ke, sadi hui acting ke.”

“My problem is with people who behave like stars without being one,” he added.

Talking about the post-release reaction of Animal, Sandeep Reddy Vanga had said that he was frustrated over the disparity of how the criticism was handled. “Everybody said Ranbir was brilliant, but the writer-director was criticised. I understood they want to work with Ranbir,” he said on Game Changers. “It’s easy to make a comment about me because I am new for this place.”
