Raichur: Police have arrested 10 individuals in connection with the circulation of counterfeit currency in Manvi town.

On 13 May, Virupakshi, a resident of Chahapudi Camp near Seekal village, allegedly deposited 36 counterfeit notes of ₹500 denomination, amounting to ₹18,000, into his Indian Bank account at the bank’s ATM branch in Manvi. The branch manager detected the fake notes and filed a complaint with the Manvi police.

Acting on the complaint, an investigation was launched under the guidance of Superintendent of Police M. Puttamadaiah and Sindhanur DySP B.S. Talawar, led by PI Somashekhar S. Kenchareddy and his team.

The accused — Virupakshi and Shekhar (Chahapudi Camp), Hussain Basha (Shastri Camp), Khaja Hussain (Machanoor), Siddanagouda (Sirwar), Amaresh (Gadderayan Camp), Ajmeer (Manvi), Alam Basha (Sindhanur), Narasayya Shetty (Raichur), and Bhimesh (Karatagi) — were arrested and a case has been registered.

Police have seized ₹18,000 worth of fake ₹500 notes, a car, and four two-wheelers from the accused. All the arrested individuals have been remanded to judicial custody as the investigation continues.

SP M. Puttamadaiah has appreciated the efforts of PI Kenchareddy and the police team for their immediate action.
