Minister for Higher Education M.C. Sudhakar on Tuesday said the government was contemplating setting up a sub-committee to look into the issue of fiscal health of State-run universities and suggest measures for their fiscal empowerment.

Replying to the discussion on The Karnataka State Universities (Amendment) Bill in the Legislative Council on Tuesday, the Minister said the government was aware of the issues plaguing the financial health of universities. The sub-committee would consult experts and suggest remedial measures.

On the concern raised by BJP member Hemalata Nayak on the delay in issuing marks cards by universities, the Minister said there was a need to bring uniformity in the way marks cards were issued. The government had set up a portal where all the marks cards of all the universities were being uploaded.
