The Ernakulam Sub Court has stayed the decision by the Kerala Film Producers Association (KFPA) to suspend producer Sandra Thomas from its primary membership.
The court stayed the decision based on a petition filed by Ms. Thomas against the decision taken by the executive committee meeting of the association held on October 28, which had found that she had “defamed” the committee members by raising baseless allegations.
Ms. Thomas had stated that the committee had failed to consider various serious issues raised by her, including the issues faced by women producers in the Malayalam film industry. She claimed that the disciplinary action was intended to silence her from speaking the truth.
She had earlier alleged that the KFPA had failed to properly address the findings made in the K. Hema Committee report that probed the problems faced by women in the Malayalam film industry.
