Minister of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, and IT/BT Priyank Kharge on Friday suggested to the Karnataka State Bio-energy Development Board to formulate models for effective implementation of bioenergy projects to reduce electricity bills of gram panchayats.
Map resources
Mr. Kharge held a meeting with board chairman S.E. Sudheendra and officials and directed them to map all bioenergy resources available in the State sector-wise and submit detailed reports which would enhance the opportunities for establishing production units of biofuels such as biodiesel, compressed biogas (CBG) and bio briquettes/pellets based on the availability of resources.
The Minister asked the board to prepare workable models with suitable guidelines covering various aspects necessary for the policy formulation process to support the development of the biofuel sector, said an official press release.
