A 57-year-old health inspector at the Mayiladuthurai District Headquarters Government Hospital has been arrested on Friday for allegedly sexually harassing a 17-year-old nursing student from a private college, who had come for training there.
The crime was committed on December 21, when the student, who was undergoing training at the government hospital, confronted the accused, Senthilnathan, for his inappropriate behaviour. Despite the student’s objections, Senthilnathan continued his harassment, leading the distressed student to file a complaint with the Mayiladuthurai District Child Welfare Committee (CWC) through the child helpline number.
Following an investigation, it was confirmed that Senthilnathan had sexually harassed the student. Arokiyaraj, a member of the CWC, lodged a complaint with the All Women Police Station. A case has been registered under the POCSO Act, and Senthilnathan arrested.
