The Jammalamadugu police on Friday (February 14) arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in multiple offences and recovered valuables worth ₹12 lakh from their possession.

According to the police, J. Balakrishna (32) and U. Hussain Basha (21), wanted in thefts that had taken place across Rayalaseema and burglaries at 18 temples in Uyyalawada, Muddanur, Duvvur and Nandyal areas, came under the police radar once again after gold and silver ornaments were stolen from the Chowdamma temple on February 5. Based on a complaint from the temple management, the police checked the CCTV camera footage from the vicinity and arrested the duo from Tadipatri road on Friday.

Deputy Superintendent (Jammalamadugu) K. Venkateswara Rao told the media that 20 gram gold and 9.4 kg silver articles were recovered from their possession.
