Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand has ordered the officials of the Agriculture, Marketing and Civil Supplies departments, and Markfed to take steps to stabilise the prices of chilli and vegetables, and to continuously monitor the prices to make timely interventions.
Addressing the officials through a video-conference on Saturday, Mr. Vijayanand said that farmers should not suffer losses and, at the same time, the public should get vegetables at affordable prices. “The government has to take steps thereof,” he said. The officials should ensure that the farmers fetched Minimum Support Price (MSP) for their produce.
He instructed Secretary (Industries) N. Yuvaraj to talk to the ITC and other organisations and take steps to ensure that the farmers growing eucalyptus and subabul got MSP. Officials explained that currently subabul was getting a MSP of ₹5,400 per tonne and eucalyptus ₹4,400 per tonne.
Special Chief Secretary (Agriculture) B. Rajasekhar, Civil Supplies Commissioner Saurabh Gaur, and Director of Agriculture Dilli Rao were among others present.
