Ajith Kumar’s Good Bad Ugly cut-out collapse creates chaos; fans escape unhurt, but questions raised about celebration culture | Tamil News

Spread the News

Actor Ajith Kumar has a very interesting relationship with his fans, which is very unlike many of his peers in the industry. The actor, who disbanded his fan clubs a few years back, has constantly admonished them whenever the fandom enters perilous zones and disturbs the surroundings, and leads to a blemish to his name. Now, with just a few days left for the release of his film, Good Bad Ugly, the fans have given him one more reason to be cross with them.

One of Ajith Kumar’s fans from Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, announced on social media that a group was going to install a 250 ft. tall cutout of their matinee idol at the PSS Multiplex to usher in the release of the Adhik Ravichandran film. However, even as they were constructing the base, and just placing the face of Ajith on the scaffolding, the entire structure collapsed and fell down. In this now-viral video, we can see fans scampering for their life as the cutout came crashing to the ground. Although, there were no injuries to any present there, the video once again proves that such mishaps are completely avoidable. In fact, the hoardings and cut-out accidents are not just relegated to cinema, but finds its way in politics too, and it has been a major bone of contention between public and the people who put up these structures.

While team Ajith Kumar or Good Bad Ugly haven’t responded to this incident, netizens are sure that the news would have reached them, and many even pointed out that it could be time for another Ajith intervention. He has time and again sent written statements about the behaviour of his fans, which are often seen as restrictions of their celebrations. In fact, recently, when Ajith fans popularised a chant that equated him with god, he immediately put out a statement asking them not to do so. Ajith has shared such statements a few times before too when fans were bombarding a lot of celebrities about an update about the film, Valimai, and also to make his fans stop calling him “Thala” and instead call him by his name.

Nevertheless, this incident might have repercussions mainly because a similar incident happened during the release of Thunivu (2023) that prompted the Tamil Nadu government to cancel the early morning screenings of films in the state. On the day of the release of Thunivu, which had a 1 am show, a fan died due to a freak incident during the celebrations, and since then, the embargo on early morning screenings have continued to date.

Even during the recent interviews that he gave on the sidelines of his racing pursuits, Ajith reiterated his belief that fans should look after their own lives, their own careers, and their families, instead of wasting it to celebrate cinema stars.
