Captain America: Brave New World is the 35th film in the MCU universe. This time, Sam (Anthony Mackie) finds himself in the middle of an international incident after meeting President Thaddeus Ross. He must soon discover the reason behind a nefarious global plot before the true mastermind has the entire world seeing red. The first 20 minutes of the film are a blast with every actor enjoying himself and even the director Julius Onah from behind the camera. There’s even a mention about the return of the Avengers.

In an exclusive interview with Firstpost, director Julius Onah spoke about the challenges of making a superhero film in Hollywood and much more.

Responding to the first question about the challenges of Hollywood while making a superhero film on such a huge scale apart from the budget, Onah said, “The challenge is to make sure the whole film feels cohesive. That’s one of the things I talk about with my partners Marvel. You have to make a film with great dramatic scenes but also great stunts and action scenes. You can feel three different movies but I wanted this to be one cohesive film. I wanted to work hand in hand with everyone on, right from stunt coordinators to visual effects supervisors so that the visual effects establish the dramatic storytelling. I asked everyone to watch movies like Point Blank and they took those references seriously.”

This is the 35th film in the MCU so when asked about the challenges to take the legacy forward, the filmmaker revealed, “There was everything to create so that it felt cohesive but also making sure I was looking at influences, right from the action to color palette had to be more distinctive. It had to be different from everything that came before. The new Captain America is not a guy who’s a billionaire. This is a guy with tremendous amount of heart and soul. And how he then becomes a superhero.”
