Mismatched title is kind of a giveaway about what to expect from the world of fun, froth, and frustrations. For the first two seasons, it was about a mismatched couple that fell in love after their relationship blossomed even further. This time, its the destinies that are mismatched. When two young and ambitious people meet and have fun beneath the sheets, long-distance is the inevitable conflict to drift them apart. Saraf and Koli face that conflict too, and they have too, because there’s absolutely no other way to add drama and tension to the story.
The series unfolds in Hyderabad where most of the story is based with some questionable CGI. But Mismatched, despite dragging its feet for over four years and three seasons, still manages to have its heart in the right place. It’s not easy being love birds in today’s times when there are so many in the bush. Infatuation and insecurity creeps in too quickly that can demolish years taken to build that one relationship you wanted. Good thing this show steers clear of melodrama even when there’s ample scope for it right at the basic level.
Artificial intelligence, metaverse make special appearances too and why not, technological revolution is walking miles ahead of content’s evolution. But as much as this is an enjoyable show, Rohit Saraf and Prajakta Koli’s love and long-distance relationship may be getting little restless now. The good news here is that fans may not complain as their characters continue to explore newer grounds. The bad news is that how long can we see them battle their demons, drift apart, and come back stronger? The ending suggests there will be season four, so what’s new left to explore. Hey, that rhymed!
