11 villages in Orvakal mandal declared as industrial node in HBIC

The Andhra Pradesh (A.P.) government declared Orvakal node under Hyderabad Bengaluru Industrial Corridor (HBIC) as an ‘industrial node’ spread in 9,718.84 acres across 11 villages in Orvakal mandal of Kurnool district in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 3(2) of the A.P. Industrial Corridor Development Act of 2017. 

The villages are Orvakal, Guttapadu, Meedivemula, Uppalapdu, Pudicherla,  N. Konthalapdu, Kannamadakala, Somayajulapalle, Bramhanapalle, Palakolanu and Komarolu. 

It was stated in a G.O. (MS No.30 dated March 7, 2025) that the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT) had in its 5th Board meeting held on August 19, 2020, approved the development of Orvakal node under HBIC, under the ambit of the Central government’s National Industrial Corridor Development Programme. 

The Orvakal node is well connected to Hyderabad and Chennai via Kurnool, Nandyal, Kadapa and Tirupati. An extent of 4,742.34 acres of land was proposed for development under the NICDIT framework, another 4,563.31 acres were earmarked for development by the APIIC and the remaining 413.19 acres has been allocated to Jai Raj Ispat Steel Limited. 

The node is strategically located adjacent to Kurnool airport, which commenced operations from March 2021. It has road connectivity through national highways (NHs) 40 and 44 and State highways (SHs) 31 and 380, apart from major district roads. Krishnapatnam port is approximately 320 kilometres away to the east. 

The government targeted investments amounting to ₹37,000 crore in pharmaceuticals, non-metallic minerals, textile and apparel, food and beverages, aerospace defense hardware, and creation of employment to almost 2.20 lakh people.
