59-year old woman killed in hit-and-run on Tiruchi-Madurai National Highway

A 59-year old woman was killed after a vehicle knocked her down while she was walking along the Chennai-Madurai National Highway on Saturday.

C. Vellaiammal, 59, a resident of Marungapuri, was walking to a temple along with a few others when the vehicle hit her and sped away. She was killed on the spot, said police sources. A case has been registered by Tiruchi Traffic Investigation-South and an investigation is under way to identify the vehicle.
