Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu angry over ‘tardy progress’ of Jal Jeevan Mission project in State

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu chairing the Cabinet meeting at the Secretariate on Tuesday.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has expressed dissatisfaction over the delay in the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) programme in the State.

Expressing his anger over the project not going beyond the DPR stage, Mr. Naidu, while chairing the Cabinet meeting at the Secretariat on December 3 (Tuesday), sought reasons behind the tardy progress of the project.

Expressing his displeasure with the officials, Mr. Naidu said Andhra Pradesh was not fully utilising the project, and the same was being criticised in Delhi.

Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan said the delay in the scheme’s implementation was due to bureaucratic hurdles.

HRD Minister N. Lokesh highlighted that JJM was one of the largest projects aimed at reaching every household, and if it operated in mission mode, it would yield exceptional results.

Instructing the officials to focus on the proper utilisation of the scheme, Mr. Naidu said the performance report should be submitted at once.
