All arrangements are in place for holding byelections to 31 local body wards in Kerala on Tuesday, State Election Commissioner A. Shajahan said on Sunday.
Polling of votes will begin at 7 a.m. and conclude at 6 p.m. The votes will be counted on December 11.
Voters can use any of the following documents to establish their identity – Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI), passport, driving licence, Aadhaar card, PAN card, photo-affixed SSLC book, photo-affixed passbook issued by nationalised banks issued within six months of the bypoll, and identity card issued by the State Election Commission.
The indelible ink will be applied on the middle finger of the left hand of voters. This is because the ink applied to the index fingers of voters for the recent bypolls in the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency and the Palakkad and Chelakkara Assembly constituencies would still be visible.
The bypolls are planned in three municipality wards, one district panchayat ward, four block panchayat wards and 23 grama panchayat wards in 11 districts. The Commission has arranged 192 booths for the bypolls. Of the total 102 candidates in the fray, 50 are women. The final voters’ list for the bypolls, published on October 19, has 1,51,055 voters including 79,087 women, 71,967 men and one transgender voter.
