The Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) reorganisation is set to conclude on Monday with the election of a State president and national council members from the State. Â
On Saturday, the party’s State returning officer Narayanan Namboodiri issued the election notification. Nominations for the post of the State president can be filed on Sunday between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. at the party’s State committee office. The scrutiny of nominations will be held after 4 p.m., followed by the election and announcement of result at the Uday Palace Convention Centre, Kowdiar, on Monday at 11 a.m. Â
According to party leadership sources, it will be a token election, with a leader already selected by the Central leadership set to file the nomination. Meanwhile, the party’s core committee will meet in the city on Sunday. Â
While several names have been doing the rounds for the post of the State president, speculation is rife about the party retaining K. Surendran, who was appointed president in 2020. Â
