Shivamogga
The representatives of Bhramina Sanghagala Okkuta in Shivamogga on Thursday complained to Deputy Commissioner Gurudatta Hegade that an official in charge of conducting the Common Entrance Test (CET) at an examination centre in Shivamogga forced the students to remove janivara (sacred thread) and kashidara before entering the examination hall.
The representatives, led by former MLA K.B. Prasanna Kumar, alleged that the officer at Adichunchanagiri College, one of the centres for CET in Shivamogga, forcibly removed the students’ sacred threads on Wednesday. The parents of the students brought this incident to the notice of the association later. “The incident left the students in shock. The CET is a milestone in a student’s life. The officer’s act was uncalled for and against Hindu practices. Such conduct by the official would disturb students appearing for the important examination of their student career,“ the representatives said.
The Deputy Commissioner, who received the memorandum, stated that he would hold an inquiry into the issue and get a report from the officials concerned within a week.
