Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Monday virtually inaugurated the Advanced Institute for Integrated Research on Livestock and Animal Sciences at Thalaivasal in Salem district, which was constructed at a cost of ₹564.44 crore.
Spread over 1,102 acres along Salem-Chennai National Highway, the institute aims to establish livestock and poultry farms on proven scientific technologies that could be adopted by the farmers.
Mr. Stalin released the Tamil translations of 10 works by B.R. Ambedkar, including Philosophy of Hinduism and Who Were the Shudras?, that have been published as critical editions by the Tamil Nadu government. He also virtually inaugurated new buildings constructed for the Labour Welfare and Skill Development Department in various locations across the State, built at a total cost of ₹27.33 crore.
Housing allotment
Mr. Stalin also handed over Tamil Nadu Housing Board housing allotment orders to 10 recipients of Sahitya Akademi’s translation awards. They were: A. Selvaraj alias Kurinjivelan, B. Baskaran alias Paavannan, S. Mani alias Nirmalaya, P.K. Rajendran alias Indhiran, Gowri Kirubanandhan, K. Poornachandran, T. Marimuthu alias Yuma Vasuki, S. Mohammed Yousuf (Colachel Yousuf), K.V. Jayasri and Kannan Dhakshinamoorthy.
Ministers K. Ponmudy, M.P. Saminathan, Anitha R. Radhakrishnan, C.V. Ganesan, Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam, and senior officials were present.
