The Vignan’s Bala Mahotsav-2K25, a two-day State-level sports and cultural festival, began with a grand inauguration at Vignan’s University in the district on Friday. More than 5,000 students from across Andhra Pradesh are participating in the event, competing in various sports, music, dance, literary, and fine arts contests.
Addressing the gathering, Vignan Educational Institutions chairman Lavu Rathaiah encouraged students to stay cheerful, enthusiastic, and healthy. He advised them to limit mobile phone usage, avoid junk food, and embrace traditional food. Stressing the importance of physical fitness, he urged students to play outdoor games regularly, as an active lifestyle would enhance both physical and mental well-being. Events like Bala Mahotsav, he said, would help students develop leadership, teamwork, and social skills, which were essential for future success.
“Only those who strive hard reach great heights,” said university Vice-Chancellor Colonel P. Nagabhushan. He motivated students to work hard towards their dreams and highlighted the role of sports in building resilience, friendships, and overall personal growth.
This year, over 50 competitions are being held in junior (grades 5-7) and senior (grades 8-10) categories. Sports events include volleyball, kabaddi, kho-kho, and athletics (100m, 800m, 4×100m relay). Additionally, students are showcasing their talents in music, dance, literature, and fine arts.
Registrar M.S. Raghunathan, and senior faculty members attended the opening ceremony.
