Srikakulam District Congress Committee president Ambati Krishnarao on Sunday said that the party would not allow anyone to grab waqf properties, which were meant to ensure the development and welfare of Muslim families.
He interacted with several Muslim leaders and assured them that the party would be with them while referring to its efforts to garner the support of all Opposition parties to stop the passage of amendments to the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025 in Parliament.
He said that hundreds of people belonging to the Minority community living in Srikakulam were worried about amendments made to the existing Acts in spite of the strong objections of the Opposition parties and leaders of several Muslim welfare organisations.
Mr. Krishnarao hoped that the Supreme Court would quash the Waqf Bill, as it had many flaws and was amended with an ulterior motive.
He said that the party would take inputs from Muslim leaders of towns like Tekkali, Palasa, and Itchapuram and submit a report about the status of the properties to party higher authorities very soon.
