Election to State BJP president’s post likely to be uncontested: Shettar

Elections to the BJP State president’s post is likely to be uncontested, MP and party leader Jagadish Shettar said in Hubballi on Saturday.

“I have been part of the BJP for 40 years now. I have seen several elections to the State president’s post. But there has never been a contest. What usually happens is that senior leaders arrive in the State, speak to all persons concerned and ensure that elections are held unanimously after taking everyone into confidence. This is the party tradition. I think that is what will happen this time too,’‘ he told reporters.

He further said: “I agree that not everything is alright in the State BJP. But efforts are on fix it. All our senior leaders were busy with the Delhi elections and Parliament session. Now that the polls are over and the session is coming to an end, they will focus on the situation here. I am sure that some clear decisions will be taken to maintain the reputation of the BJP being a disciplined party.”
