Former MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi.
The NTR Commissionerate police on Thursday arrested former YSRCP Gannavaram MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi under the provisions of the SC/ ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and other charges.
The police reportedly picked up Mr. Vamsi from a house at Rayadurgam, near Hyderabad, in the early hours after issuing the arrest warrant to his family members.
A team of police personnel shifted the former MLA to Vijayawada.
The Gannavaram police had registered cases against 88 people for vandalising the TDP office on February 20, 2023. Mr. Vamsi was named as an accused in the case.
Two days ago, M. Satyavardhan, who was a computer operator in the TDP office, filed an affidavit in the court in Vijayawada that he had no connection with the case.
Later, he lodged a complaint with the Patamata police alleging that Mr. Vamsi had “kidnapped, threatened and forced” him to file a false affidavit in the court.

A team of police officers was questioning Mr. Vamsi at the Krishnalanka Police Station when reports last came in. The former MLA was being questioned on the allegations made by Mr. Satyavardhan and his family members.
