Gold ornaments and cash worth several lakhs was reported stolen from the residence of a 75-year-old retired employee in Narayanguda.

Sridhar reported the theft of gold jewellry weighing approximately 163.1 grams, two silver rings, and ₹20,000 in cash.

“The incident occurred between November 24 and December 8, at Sridhar’s residence in Narayanguda. The items, belonging to both Sridhar and his late wife, were kept in a locked almirah. The theft was discovered on Sunday evening, when Sridhar’s son visited to request some money. Upon opening the almirah, Sridhar found the lock tampered with and the valuables missing,” said the police.

According to the statement given by Sridhar, his 11-year-old grandson was repeatedly asking for the house keys over the past few days. “On December 7, Sridhar handed over the keys to his grandson while briefly stepping out to purchase dinner. He now suspects that his grandson, possibly with the help of friends, may be involved in the theft,” added the police.

Sridhar shared with the police that the stolen items hold significant sentimental value, especially the gold ornaments belonging to his late wife, who passed away 12 years ago. The police registered a case.
