HC asks govt. to spell stand on introduction of creamy layer in SCs’ reservation

Spread the News

The Telangana High Court on Tuesday issued notices to the State government in a writ petition seeking a direction to introduce ‘creamy layer’ for reservations among scheduled castes and scheduled tribes.

A bench of the HC hearing the plea directed the State government to file counter affidavit within six weeks explaining stand of the government on the matter. The petitioner K. Ganga belonging to scheduled caste contended that her parents were agricultural labourers. None of her family members was government employee. In the absence of creamy layer, children of parents hailing from SC community who already got government jobs would get double opportunity to become government employees. This would deprive the candidates from scheduled castes who aspire to secure first ever government job, the petitioner said.
