HYDRAA brings down resort and convention hall built in lake

The Hyderabad Disaster Response & Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) forces removed unauthorised structures raised in Komati Kunta lake in Devarayamjal village of Medchal-Malkajgiri on Thursday.

Acting upon several complaints from the local residents about the encroachment of the lake, HYDRAA initiated a full scale enquiry into the issue by Irrigation, Revenue and Thumkunta Municipality officials. The enquiry revealed that one Prakruthi Resorts and Prakruthi Convention constructed in the full tank level of the lake did not have any permissions. Demolition orders were issued and notices were served to the management of the resort and convention centre, who approached High Court against the same.

The High Court issued orders favouring demolition, based on the reports submitted by the Irrigation and Revenue departments. However, the Prakruthi management offered to bring down the structures and sought a month’s time. After the period has elapsed, HYDRAA has undertaken the demolition, a statement from the agency informed.

Through another statement on Thursday, HYDRAA has informed that the removal of illegal hoardings in the peripheral municipalities is continuing. During the past one week, a total 53 hoardings have been removed from the road margins in Shamshabad, Kotwalguda, Narsingi, Thondupalli, Gollapalli road and Tallapur areas.

Of these, 35 were uni-poles, four were uni-structures, and 14 were rooftop hoardings, the statement said.

Speaking to the advertisement agency representatives who met him, HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath made it clear that all kinds of hoardings installed without permission in the peripheral municipalities will be removed. When the representatives sought 10 days time for removal of unauthorised hoardings, Mr. Ranganath said that HYDRAA had to take the initiative as the agencies had not responded even after being given notices. He assured them that the hoardings with permission will not be touched.
