Institute in Palnadu invites entries for Vedic education

Veda Vedanta Gurukula Mahavidhyalaya (VVGM), located at Svetha Sringachalam, Madipadu village in Atchampet mandal, located near Pulichintala project in Palnadu district, has invited applications from eligible students for studying Vedic education.

The VVGM is a unit of Sri Sri Jagadguru Shankaracharya Mahasamsthanam, Sringeri. 

D.V.R. Seshadri, Dharmadhikari of the VVGM told The Hindu on Sunday that the institution, founded in 1990-91, is focused on study, research and propagation of Vedas and Vedic knowledge. The VVGM is spread over 86 acres of land, where they grow a variety of crops meant for consumption of students and faculty.

“Students aged between 7 and 14 from the Brahmin community in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are allowed to study the Vedas at the institute. The institute teaches Rig Veda, Krishna Yejurveda and Shukla Yejurveda at present. He also added that they offer the Shakhas (Branches) in the select Vedas.

Mr. Seshadri said that Veda education is divided into two parts — Kramantam and Ganantam. Those who complete the eight-year course of Kramantam will receive ₹5 lakh and will be get another ₹7.5 lakh as scholarship upon completion of Ganantam. Apart from that, each student will also get ₹2,500 as a monthly stipend. But this stipend will be given at the end of their course, along with the certificate and scholarship.

Mr. Seshadri added that the institute provides hostel facility, food and other essential needs to the students free of charge. He suggested that those who are interested in these courses could directly contact the institute or visit them to know more about the education.
