Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] district secretary M.V. Jayarajan has said that the party will examine its defeat in the three parliamentary constituencies in Kannur district during the upcoming party district conference scheduled from February 1 to February 3 at Taliparamba.
Addressing the media, Mr. Jayarajan noted that despite securing over 50% of votes in the last Assembly and local body elections, the party faced setbacks in the Lok Sabha polls.
Mr. Jayarajan said the delegate conference would be held on February 1 and 2 at Kodiyeri Balakrishnan Nagar (KKN Pariyaram Memorial Hall), while the public meeting will take place on February 3 at 4 pm at Sitaram Yechury Nagar (Undaparamba Maidan). Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate both the meets.
A total of 566 participants, including 496 representatives elected from 18 area committees, district committee members, and invited Central and State leaders will attend the delegate meet.
The conference will also focus on expanding the district’s library network by opening libraries in 202 more wards. Currently, Kannur has 1,028 libraries, the highest in Kerala, he added.
