KAU and NABARD sign MoU to empower agriculture through drone technology

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been exchanged between Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) and NABARD during the Sustainable Agriculture & Food Processing Growth Summit & Expo 2025, held at Kerala Agricultural University, Vellanikkara, which concluded on Saturday. This initiative marks the launch of the innovative project titled “Empowering Agriculture Through Innovation: Establishing a Drone Pilot Training Hub at Kerala Agricultural University.”

The project aims to revolutionise agricultural practices in the State by leveraging drone technology, providing capacity-building programmes, and facilitating drone pilot licensing. The MoU was exchanged by Dr. E G Ranjit Kumar, Registrar, Kerala Agricultural University, and Biju S. Kurup, Chief General Manager, NABARD, in the presence of Dr. Jacob John, Director of Extension, Dr. K. P. Sudheer, Principal Investigator of the project, alongside distinguished dignitaries and participants.

This collaboration signifies a pivotal step in integrating innovation into agriculture, setting a benchmark for sustainable growth and technological advancement in the sector, according to the KAU sources. KAU Agri Business Incubator is one among the pioneer institutions in the State providing trainings and workshops on the operation and maintenance of agri drones.
