Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K. Kavitha has demanded that the State government mount pressure on the Centre to take immediate measures ensuring 42% reservation for people from Backward Classes (BCs). She warned that BRS would not allow the Congress and BJP leaders to roam freely in villages if they failed to implement reservations.

Addressing a round-table meeting organised by the United Phule Front in Kamareddy on Saturday, she said, “If required, we can go to Delhi and wage a battle against the BJP-led Central government. Congress should not try to evade its responsibility as it came up with the Kamareddy Declaration and promised 42% quota for BCs.”

The BRS MLC also criticised the Congress and accused it of deceiving the BC leaders by not allotting a single MLA ticket to candidates from the BC communities from the erstwhile Nizamabad district in the Assembly elections.

Alleging that the Congress betrayed people’s aspirations after coming to power, she warned that the Congress leaders would be left with no history if they failed to implement the BC reservations.

She also criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for his ‘inability’ to get an appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi ever since the Assembly had passed two Bills regarding BC reservations. “Mr. Revanth Reddy announced that he would take an all-party delegation to Delhi. But he is yet to get the Prime Minister’s appointment,” she claimed.

She also urged the Prime Minister to take proactive steps to implement 42% quota for BCs in Telangana, on the lines of reservation in Tamil Nadu. Ms. Kavitha demanded the State government to disclose the Dedicated Commission’s report.
