Kerala Governor to inaugurate Dalit progress conclave on March 23

A Dalit progress conclave will be held at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Biotechnology on Sunday (March 23) on the occasion of the Gandhigram project initiated by senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala turning 15 years.  

Governor Rajendra Vishvanath Arlekar will inaugurate the conclave in which the Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan will deliver the keynote address. Dansari Anasuya, Minister in the Telengana State Cabinet, will be the guest of honour.  

Kodikunnil Suresh, MP, and tribal medical practitioner Lakshmikutty Amma will be honoured at the event.  

The conclave will witness discussions on the protection offered by the Constitution to the Dalits and Adivasis and how reservation gets subverted; the empowerment of Dalit women within families and the society; and the issues of land ownership and unemployment faced by the Dalit and backward communities.  

Minister for the Welfare of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Backward Classes, O.R. Kelu will inaugurate the concluding event.
