The three-day State conference of the Kerala School Teachers Association (KSTA) concluded in Kozhikode on Sunday (February 16) with the election of new functionaries. D. Sudheesh is the State president and T.K.A. Shafi is the general secretary. A.K. Beena is the treasurer.
Opening the delegate conference, Minister for General Education V. Sivankutty said that the M.A. Khader panel recommendations on reforms in school education would be implemented in another six months. He said that the various directorates under the Education department would be unified. The Minister said that no schools would be allowed to function without a no-objection certificate from the government. As many as 873 schools had been served notice in this regard, he added.
Attending a farewell session for retired teachers, Minister for Public Works P.A. Mohamed Riyas alleged that the Union government was trying to ‘strangle’ the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board. C. Raveendranath, former General Education Minister, attended another session.
