The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to revise the land registration values, effective from February 1, 2025. The land values would increase in the areas where growth corridors exist, and land prices have gone up significantly.
On average, the land value is expected to go up by 15% to 20%, according to Revenue, Registration, and Stamps Minister Anagani Satya Prasad.
At a review meeting on December 30 (Monday), the Minister asked the officials to submit a detailed report by January 15, 2025, specifying where to increase or decrease the land values.
The State is gradually recovering from the heavy debt burden left by the previous YSRCP government. Revenue generation is still necessary. So the decision to increase land registration values was made, the Minister said.
“The previous YSRCP government had arbitrarily increased the registration values without following a scientific approach, resulting in the registration values surpassing the actual land values in many places. We have decided to reduce the values in such areas and this is a historic move,” the Minister said.
Grievance redressal
Mr. Satya Prasad also highlighted that most complaints received by the government were from Revenue Department, with about 10% of the total grievances related to the Registration and Stamps Department.
“The government is taking steps to resolve all these issues. Compared to the previous year, all months, except for September, in the past six months have seen an increased revenue,” he said.
The Minister expressed confidence that the revenue generation target of ₹9,500 crore set for this fiscal year was achievable.
Accusing the YSRCP government of creating hurdles for the real estate businesses, the Minister said the NDA government was committed to resolving the issues resulted to the sector.
Revenue Sadassus
“Revenue Sadassus are being held to resolve land disputes. Of the 1,70,000 complaints received so far, 11,000 were resolved on the spot,” the Minister said and asked the officials why these issues were not addressed earlier, emphasising accountability.
Revenue Special Chief Secretary R.P. Sisodia, Registration and Stamps IG Sheshagiri Babu, and other officials participated in the review meeting.
