Many places in Rayalaseema received light to moderate rain on Saturday, with a maximum rainfall of 34 mm recorded at Nallacheruvu mandal in Sri Sathya Sai district.

Nallacheruvupalle in YSR Kadapa district received 27 mm rain, followed by Muddanur with 19.75 mm, Veldurthi in Kurnool (18.75 mm), Peapally in Nandyal district (17.25 mm), among others. The coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh did not see any rainfall, according to the information available from the A.P. State Development Planning Society.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), light to moderate rain, accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning, is likely at isolated places across the State until March 25. In some places, gusty winds with wind speed touching 40 to 50 kmph is also expected.

The change in the weather is due to a north-south trough that runs from Karnataka to south Tamil Nadu at 1.5 km above mean sea-level. According to the IMD, Friday’s trough/wind discontinuity from south Chhattisgarh to south interior Karnataka across Telangana and north interior Karnataka at 1.5 km above mean sea-level has become less marked.
