Minister invites artist who designed Kerala school arts festival golden cup for valedictory function

Minister for General Education V. Sivankutty greets Chirayinkeezhu Sreekanthan Nair who crafted the State School Arts Festival golden cup.  

Minister for General Education V. Sivankutty on Friday visited the house of Chirayinkeezhu Sreekanthan Nair who designed the Kerala State School Arts Festival golden cup and invited him to the festival.

Mr. Sreekanthan Nair was invited to the festival valedictory where the golden cup will be presented to the winners on January 8.

The Minister had earlier said at a press conference that Mr. Sreekanthan Nair will be invited to the festival.

It was poet Vyloppilly Sreedhara Menon who in 1986 asked Mr. Sreekanthan Nair, then an art teacher in the General Education department, to design the cup. This led to the creation of 117-sovereign golden cup, which later became the symbol of the festival.
