The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has approved the construction of the building of Andhra Pradesh State Forest Academy (APSFA), currently operating from the Regional Forest Research Centre (RFRC) in Diwancheruvu Reserve Forest here. The APSFA was being run on the RFRC campus in the absence of permanent buildings, since the bifurcation of undivided Andhra Pradesh.

In 2017, the State government proposed construction of permanent buildings for the APSFA. “On February 17, the MoEFCC has approved our proposal and cleared the diversion of six acres of reserve forest for the construction of the permanent buildings of the APSFA on the RFRC campus in Rajamahendravaram,” APSFA Director B. Vijaya Kumar told The Hindu

₹30 crore outlay

In 2017, the administrative approval was given by the Andhra Pradesh State government, with allocation of ₹30 crore including ₹18 crore loan pledged by the AP Forest Development Corporation.

Administrative buildings, class rooms and hostels facilities would be built for the training and capacity building of the officers. In an official release issued by the Jana Sena Party, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Environment and Forest K. Pawan Kalyan has directed the officials concerned to speed up the project. Mr. Pawan Kalyan is soon likely to lay a foundation and perform bhumi puja for the construction of the APSFA.
