Chittoor MP Daggumalla Prasada Rao on Monday inspected the Chittoor railway station and reviewed the ongoing infrastructure development works.

Interacting with the railway officials and contractors, the MP inquired about the progress of Chittoor railway station modernisation works. He underlined that there should be coordination among the officials and the contractors while executing the works so that the project could be completed with quality and within the scheduled timeframe. “I will do my best for the early completion of the station modernisation and Tirupati-Katpadi railway line doubling works,” Mr. Rao said.

The MP informed the railway officials to bring any issues or challenges directly to his notice, and he would strive his level best to solve them at the earliest.

Later, speaking to the media, the MP said that the Tirupati–Katpadi railway line doubling project would boost Chittoor district’s growth and integrated development. He observed that increased rail connectivity would provide a fillip to the temple tourism in Tirupati and Chittoor districts. This would prompt a spurt in spiritual tourism in Tirumala, Tirumala, Tiruchanur, Srikalahasti, Kanipakam, and the Golden Temple at Vellore. “Once the doubling is completed, it will facilitate better transportation of agricultural produce from rural areas and expand rail connectivity in the region, besides prompting all the express trains to make a halt in Chittoor station,” he added.

The MP thanked the Centre for approving the doubling project and sanctioning the necessary funds. He said that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu envisaged a plan for even development across the State.

Chittoor district MLAs Gurajala Jagan Mohan, Pulivarthi Nani, Murali Mohan, TDP Chittoor Parliamentary constituency president C.R. Rajan, Chittoor Mayor C. Amuda, and Chittoor Urban Development Authority (CHUDA) Chairperson Katari Hemalatha and others accompanied the MP.
