The government is considering subsidised autorickshaws to women after offering them free training on driving . A formal announcement on this initiative is expected to be made by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy during International Women’s Day celebrations on March 8 in Hyderabad.

In addition to this initiative, the government plans to announce several new schemes and initiatives on the occasion, including the unveiling of the ‘Indira Mahila Shakti-2025’ policy. Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development and Women and Child Welfare Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka), who held a high-level review meeting at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Secretariat here on Saturday (March 1), directed officials to organise the celebrations on Parade Ground in Secunderabad in a grand manner to showcase the achievements of rural women in Telangana’s economic sector.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will be the chief guest, and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and other ministers will also be present.

During the event, the CM will virtually lay the foundation stone for solar power plants to be set up by women’s groups in each district. Additionally, 64 megawatt solar plants will be formally inaugurated in all 32 districts. Agreements will be signed to lease buses purchased by women’s self-help groups (SHG) to the TGSRTC.

The government will also provide accident insurance claim cheques worth ₹40 crore to the kin of 400 members of the SHGs. Furthermore, the recruitment for over 14,000 Anganwadi teachers and helpers will be initiated.

The government plans to enter into agreements with oil companies such as BPCL, HPCL and IOCL to open petrol stations in the remaining 31 districts, akin to petrol stations started by women’s groups in Narayanpet districts.

The Minister instructed officials to study women’s welfare policies in various states and formulate the best women’s empowerment policy in the country.
