The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency has received several complaints about encroachments from plot owners of older layouts, during its Prajavani public grievance forum on Monday.
The layouts made in 1980-90 have been erased and the land has been occupied illegally, a statement from HYDRAA said, citing the complaints. At times, the layout developers were the ones who resorted to encroachment after the real estate prices skyrocketed, the complainants said. There have also been other instances where the layouts have been converted to agricultural lands.
Of the total 49 complaints, majority was about layouts on the city fringes, the statement said. Plots and open spaces to the extent of 30 acres in a layout by the name Chanakyapuri in Nadargul village of Balapur mandal in Rangareddy district have been encroached, the owners complained.
Another complaint was received about NMR-Divya Nagar layout owners who said 66 of their plots are not to be seen now, as the land has been occupied for agriculture. The encroachments include parks and roads too. Also received were grievances about the duplicate sale of eight acres of land in the TNGO Colony of Gopanpally which had already been allotted to employees, and encroachment of parks and roads in Sripuram Colony of Chengicherla.
HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath examined the satellite and Survey of India maps and issued directions for action.
