‘Paadipparakkunna Malayalam’, a photo exhibition featuring Kerala’s birds, will be held for four days from February 19 at the Lalithakala Academy Art Gallery in Kozhikode.
The event is being organised by the Induchoodan Foundation. Renowned ornithologist K.K. Neelakantan, who wrote under the pen name ‘Induchoodan’, was a pioneer in the field. His book Keralathile Pakshikal, the first title published by the Kerala Sahitya Akademi in 1958, was well received not only for its unique information on the birds in the State but also for the lyrical beauty of its language.
V.K. Sreeraman, secretary of the foundation, told the media on Monday (February 17) that actor Joy Mathew would open the exhibition, which would showcase around 60 birds found in Kerala. The pictures taken by around 23 photographers have been curated for the show by Suresh Elamon, Sreedevi Madhavan, and M. Ramachandran. The descriptions accompanying the photographs will feature Induchoodan’s own words from his book. Similar exhibitions have been held across the State, with Kozhikode being the eighth venue on the list, Mr. Sreeraman added.
