A group of Congress workers are planning to hold a parallel convention here on May 1 in protest against the alleged ‘groupism’ within the District Congress Committee (DCC).
K. Mohanan Kumar, Congress’s Kottayi mandalam committee president, said that a large number of party workers were disillusioned with the party district leadership. He said the DCC had remained inactive even after repeated complaints of divisive and anti-party activities against certain leaders.
Fourteen workers had quit the Congress at Kottayi a while ago in protest against the party district leadership. Mr. Kumar said that it was ‘groupism’ which led to the desertion of leaders like A.V. Gopinathan and A. Ramaswamy.
