BJP leader and former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa on Sunday dismissed the probe ordered by the State government into the alleged COVID-19 scam as an exercise of no use.
Responding to a query from reporters about the inquiries ordered by the government into issues such as the alleged COVID-19 scam, Mr. Yediyurappa, who was in Mysuru on Sunday to attend a wedding, remarked that the government may have no other work to do and hence was conducting such inquiries.
He said the government was raking up old issues and the inquiries into the same would be of no benefit. However, he said the government was free to conduct the probes.
It may be mentioned here that the John Michael D’Cunha commission, which inquired into the alleged irregularities in the COVID-19 procurements in the State, had recommended the prosecution of Mr. Yediyurappa and the then Minister for Health and Family Welfare B. Sriramulu over purchase of PPE kits in April 2020.
