The 11-day Maha Sivaratri Brahmotsavams at the Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy temple in Srisailam concluded on Saturday.
On the last day of the Brahmotsavams, the processional idols were taken on a ride on ‘Aswa Vahanam’ and at night, ‘Pushpotsavam’ was performed. As part of the Pushpotsavam, Lord Mallikarjuna and Goddess Bhramaramba were offered prayers with 21 varieties of flowers. Later, ‘Sayanotsavam’ was performed in ‘ekantam’.
The celebrations on February 19 had started with ‘Ankurarpana’ and Ganapathi puja on a grand note. Temple Executive Officer (EO) M. Srinivasa Rao said that five Ministers led by Endowments Minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy and local MLA Budda Rajasekhara Reddy had inspected and monitored the arrangements for the Brahmotsavams.
He said that the number of devotees who visited the temple this year for the Brahmotsavams was more compared to last year. On Maha Sivaratri Day, 1,05,906 devotees visited the temple this year, while 1,00,950 had visited last year on the same day.
Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that they distributed free laddus to the devotees for four days and 10 buses offering free service were run for the convenience of the devotees to commute in the temple town. Devotees were provided water in queue complexes and lines, he added. “All the arrangements, including temporary toilets, lighting, shelters, parking places and queue lines, were more this year when compared to last year,’‘ the EO said.
