Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) State vice-president P. Abdul Hameed has called for urgent intervention by the Central government to resolve the ongoing travel crisis affecting pilgrims planning to go for the Hajj pilgrimage through private tour groups.
In a statement, he stated that thousands of pilgrims from India who have spent significant amounts of money and completed all necessary preparations are now facing uncertainty and distress due to delays and lack of clarity regarding their travel arrangements. The current crisis is a result of the Centre’s failure to provide timely updates regarding the annual pilgrimage.
The government must adopt immediate steps to ensure that all pilgrims, including those opting for private tour operators, are able to travel without further hurdles.
