Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said that the Telangana government has set a record in the country by filling around 55,143 jobs in a mission mode in less than a year.
This is in sharp contrast to the ‘betrayal’ of unemployed youth by those at the helm in the previous BRS dispensation during their nearly 10-year-rule, he alleged while addressing a huge public meeting in Peddapalli town late on Wednesday evening.
Striking a chord with youth who gathered in large numbers at the meeting christened “Yuva Vikasam”, the Chief Minister said that a slew of initiatives by the Congress government such as Young India Skill University and the ambitious skilling programme demonstrates its commitment to youth empowerment.
“The BRS leaders are hell-bent on spewing venom on the Congress government,” he alleged, adding that Congress will counter its propaganda to expose their narrow political machinations out of sheer frustration, he said.
Dares PM
Training his guns at BJP leaders, he said, “Let Prime Minister Narendra Modi who ruled Gujarat for long years and now at the helm in the Centre, join in a debate with youth from Telangana to make public the number of jobs filled during his tenure in Gujarat in a single year. We are ready to prove with facts and figures that a staggering number of 55,143 jobs were filled in Telangana in the first year of our Congress government.”
The demand for Neellu, Nidhulu, Niyamakalu (water, funds, jobs) propelled separate Telangana movement and scores of youth made sacrifices for the cause of Telangana. But KCR shattered the aspirations of unemployed youths during his nearly 10-year-rule by depriving them of assured jobs. Nepotism marred the BRS rule , he charged.
“KCR neglected the public universities in the State and our government appointed Vice-Chancellors for all the universities and filled up vacant posts,” he added.
The proactive measures taken by the Congress government rekindled the hopes among unemployed youths, he said citing the distribution of appointment letters to around 8084 newly selected candidates for various Group-IV posts and jobs in Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) at the Yuva Vikasam meeting.
He said the waiver of ₹21,000 crore in crop loans and provision of bonus of ₹500 per quintal of fine rice are some of the path-breaking initiatives of the Congress government in Telangana. KCR owes an explanation to people as to why he is not participating in the BC caste survey. Those who abstain from a well intended programme needs to be boycotted by the society, he added.
Earlier, the Chief Minister inaugurated and laid foundation stones for various development works worth around ₹1,024 crore.
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president B Mahesh Kumar Goud, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Ministers D Sridhar Babu, N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar, and others spoke.
